APEX Navigator for Kubernates and more join Dell’s hybrid and multicloud software-as-a-service household.
Image: mrinal/Adobe Stock Dell reconfigured numerous of its multicloud and hybrid services under the APEX trademark name as part of the suite of announcements at Dell Technologies World on May 22. The change is in response to customer demand for massive multicloud and hybrid hosting, said Sam Grocott, senior vice president of item marketing at Dell Technologies, throughout a press pre-briefing for the occasion.
“Now, Dell APEX spans the breadth of our portfolio to offer customers higher flexibility for innovation to support organizations as their needs dictate,” stated Chuck Whitten, co-chief running officer at Dell Technologies, in a news release.

From cloud to ground and back
Dell’s existing peak SaaS has shifted to consist of a number of new services to support cloud storage from the data center to the edge. Multicloud services formerly referred to as Project Alpine will now live under the same banner as APEX Storage for Public Cloud. This brings Dell’s software-defined block and file storage to the public cloud, said Caitlin Gordon, vice president of project management at Dell Technologies.
The brand-new membership addresses cloud services from three directions:
- Ground to cloud, or bringing software application clients are utilizing in their information center to the public cloud
- Cloud to ground, or bringing cloud operating models from different service providers into the information center
- Peak as-a-service and altered subscription deals
The additions or enhancements to Dell’s pinnacle portfolio consist of:
- Dell Pinnacle Cloud Platforms
- Dell Peak Storage for Public Cloud
- Dell Pinnacle Navigator for Multicloud Storage and Kubernetes
- Dell APEX Calculate
- Dell Peak PC-as-a-Service
- Dell Technologies and Databricks work together on Dell object storage with Databricks’ Lakehouse Platform
Basically, Dell’s data protection storage services are being moved into this product family and improved with some interoperability.
Pinnacle cloud platforms will use the following advantages, Dell stated:
- Extend and enhance a customer’s on-premises cloud community.
- Integrate typical platforms and automation.
- Offer familiar, basic functional and developer experiences suitable for non-specialized or little teams.
- Extend information and apps throughout multicloud environments.
- Deal constant compliance and governance.
Pinnacle uses customers looking to move into the cloud an option of cloud suppliers. For example, the “ground to cloud” clients utilizing APEX Cloud Platform can now select between Microsoft Azure, Red Hat OpenShift and VMware.

“VMware and Dell Technologies have a performance history of jointly crafted options and development that spans nearly twenty years,” stated Dave McGraw, vice president of partner services engineering, office of the CTO, VMware. “The intro of Dell pinnacle Cloud Platform for VMware expands clients’ VMware multicloud implementation alternatives, supplying higher option and versatility to improve applications while enhancing multicloud operations.”
“Microsoft and Dell are simplifying hybrid cloud management with an incorporated solution that gives customers consistent operations across the Azure public cloud and their on-premises and edge environments,” stated Bernardo Caldas, corporate vice president, Azure Edge PM, Microsoft, in a press release.
Ground-to-cloud support for Kubernetes and more
Two new SaaS offerings were included within the “ground to cloud” aspect of pinnacle Navigator: Pinnacle Navigator for Multicloud Storage and APEX Navigator for Kubernetes. Both are public cloud storage possessions that can deploy and keep track of any storage type and any public cloud. These Dell SaaS items can likewise be hooked to an API as required when consumers have their own monitoring tools.
The latter consists of cloud-native application mobility, discovery of assets and storage for anyone using Dell storage assets with Kubernetes.
“With the growth of cloud-native software and Kubernetes, there are a growing number of work being done in cloud-native environments,” stated Gordon.

APEX-as-a-service accessibility
APEX Block and File Storage for AWS, Pinnacle PC-as-a-Service, Peak Compute, and the Dell item storage and Databricks Lakehouse Platform connection are readily available now, with some geographical constraints. Specifically, PC-as-a-Service and Compute can be used in The United States and Canada, Europe and Asia Pacific.
In the 2nd half of 2023, Dell is anticipated to add peak Cloud Platforms (worldwide), APEX Block Storage for Microsoft Azure (worldwide), pinnacle Navigator for Multicloud Storage (starting in the U.S. with plans for expansion) and APEX Navigator for Kubernetes (U.S., U.K., France and Germany).

Dell’s hybrid and multicloud and edge management SaaS takes on HPE GreenLake, IBM Cloud, Cisco Systems’ Cisco+, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and more. It has also competed in the past with Microsoft Azure and VMware.
