Eclipse accompanies industry groups to protect open source

The Eclipse Foundation announced that it is partnering with the Apache Software Foundation and other open source foundations to develop typical specs for protected software advancement based on existing open source best practices.In an April 2 blog post, Eclipse stated that the goal of the initiative was to satisfy the challenges of cybersecurity in the open source ecosystem and show cooperation with the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act( CRA ). Individuals include Apache, Eclipse, the Rust Structure, the PHP Structure, the Mixer Structure, the OpenSSL Software Structure, and the Python Software Application Foundation. The collaborative effort will be hosted at the Brussels-based Eclipse Structure AISBL under the auspices of the Eclipse Foundation Requirements Process and a new working group. Other code-hosting open source structures and market gamers are welcomed to join.The starting point forthe technical standardization effort will be current security policies and procedures of open source foundations and comparable documents explaining finest practices. The governance of the working group will follow the Eclipse-led design but will be enhanced by representation from the open source community.
