With enterprise consumers reluctant to commit to big expenditures due to the fact that of the unsteady economy, SAS on Tuesday said that it is making its Viya analytics suite available on Microsoft’s Azure Marketplace to help enterprise users access all functions of the suite in a pay-as-you-go model.

“The schedule of Viya on the Azure Market provides business the alternative to run the suite with a single click and in a pay-as-you-go design. These alternatives produce an ideal way to combat any headwinds around economic uncertainty in the future,” stated SAS CIO Jay Upchurch.Another reason to put Viya on the market, according to SAS, is the growing pattern among enterprises to purchase software application from markets instead of from vendors.A recent report

from software marketplace G2 pointed to modifications in the software buying procedure and claimed that a person element driving the appeal of software marketplaces was the existence of peer evaluations in their interface. Viya, as part of the Azure Market, will include an in-app learning center to help support onboarding, SAS stated. Other Viya parts will include SAS applications such as Visual Analytics, Visual Stats, Visual Data Mining and Machine Learning, Model Supervisor, Studio Expert, Information Governance, Econometrics and Optimization.Pricing will be based on computing resources used, SAS stated. Continued collaboration with Microsoft SAS stated its launch of Viya on the Azure Market is an extension of the strategic collaboration it revealed with Microsoft in June 2020. That collaboration, constructed on SAS combinations across Microsoft cloud options for Azure,

was planned to enable enterprises to migrate their analytical work to the cloud, with Azure as SAS’ favored cloud provider. But that preference is not exclusive. Upchurch stated Viya will be made available on other markets in the future. Nevertheless, enterprises might prefer Azure over AWS and Google Cloud Platform for running analytical work, stated Matt Aslett, vice president and expert at Ventana

Research study.”Our analytics and data benchmark research shows a slight preference for Microsoft Azure over AWS, which are both more popular

that Google Cloud Platform for analytics and data work among our participants,”he said.Offering Viya in a pay-as-you-go variation on the market could also be seen as an effort to bring in

smaller sized customers in contrast to its current customer base of big banks, insurance provider, and pharmaceutical and health care companies, stated Doug Henschen, primary analyst at Constellation Research study.” Every business

wants and needs to bring in brand-new clients, and this is a clear effort by SAS to make it much easier for customers to start little with something they can deploy themselves, that’s delivered as a service which they can pay as part of their cloud account,”Henschen said. In the commercial software market, SAS rivals include Alteryx, Amazon( with SageMaker), Dataiku, Domino Data Labs, Google(with Vertex), H2O.ai, Knime, RapidMiner and TIBCO, stated Henschen.”Microsoft likewise presents co-opetition with both Azure Databricks and Azure ML. Another type of competitors comes from open-source tools and

data science libraries offered by the likes of Anaconda, “Henschen included. Copyright © 2022 IDG Communications, Inc. Source
