Flash storage vendor Vast Data has actually released what it claims is its greatest software application release, upgrading and including new functions around information catalogs that will enable business to tag data with user-defined information and to query datasets that combine structured, unstructured and semi-structured data.Vast has in fact announced two modifications to its software, 4.6 and 4.7. The software itself has no formal name, just a variation number. Version 4.6, offered now, is a significant release, and 4.7, available this spring, will be a small release, according to Steve Pruchniewski, director of item marketing at VAST.

Policy-based quality of service: The brand-new release includes the ability to create different service plans that set minimum and optimum limits on bandwidth and IOPS for each Vast user or view, so that public and private cloud service providers can include loud next-door neighbors (another renter on the exact same hardware whose activity disrupts your virtual maker).
Business key management: Large 4.6 adds assistance for Key Management Interoperability Procedure (KMIP) 1.2, which permits occupants to bring and handle their own file encryption keys, turn their keys and use their own encryption. Initial support is provided for Thales CypherTrust and IBM Key Protect.
International photos and international clones: Huge snapshots take a backup picture of any namespace depth as frequently as every 15 seconds.
