What is Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list?

The winners of Glassdoor’s 15th annual Employees’ Option Awards honor the best locations to work in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France and Germany. The awards are based on the input of employees who willingly provide anonymous feedback on the job site with company evaluates about their job, work environment and company over the previous year, Glassdoor stated.

In the U.S., Glassdoor’s 100 Finest Places to Work acknowledges companies with 1,000 or more employees, in addition to 50 Best Small & Medium Business to Work For, which recognizes employers with fewer than 1,000 staff members. Winners are ranked based upon their general rating achieved throughout the past year, the business stated. Rankings are based on a five-point scale, with five being the greatest rating. Among the 2.3 million companies examined on Glassdoor, the typical company rating is 3.7.

Forty-one tech business made Glassdoor’s list of 2023 Finest Places to Work– one of the most of any market. Glassdoor’s list functions winning employers in other industries, including financing, biotech and pharmaceuticals, property and retail.

Just 2 employers have made the list every year for the past 15 years: Bain & Company (No. 3, 4.6 score) and Google (No. 8, 4.6 rating).

  • San Francisco Bay Area has 27 companies on the list; this is down from 30 companies in 2022.
  • New York City has 10 business on the list; this is up from seven companies in 2022.
  • Boston has nine companies on the list; this is no modification from 2022.
  • Los Angeles has 4 companies on the list; this is below 8 companies in 2022.
  • Houston has 4 business on the list; this is up from one in 2022.
  • Seattle has three business on the list; this is below five business in 2022.
  • Washington, D.C. has three business on the list; this is down from five companies in 2022.
  • Chicago, IL has one business on the list; this is no change from 2022.

Method for Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list

All of the Employees’ Option Award winners are picked based upon Glassdoor’s exclusive awards algorithm, and each employer’s score is identified based on the quantity, quality and consistency of Glassdoor-approved company examines submitted by U.S.-based workers between Oct. 19, 2021 and Oct. 17, 2022, the company said. When employees submit evaluations about their company on Glassdoor, they are asked to share their viewpoints on a few of the best factors to work for their company (pros) and any drawbacks (cons), and they are encouraged to supply suggestions to management, the task site stated.
